چکیده
Background: Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is one of the largest causes mortality worldwide. Clopidogrel, antiplatelet drug, has been widely used for management CAD. The current study aimed to investigate effect clopidogrel on oxidative stress in CAD patients. Methods: One hundred patients, who were followed-up 5 days after receiving clopidogrel, and 50 healthy volunteers included this study. Parameters include catalase (CAT), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), oxidant (TOC), protein, albumin, globulins determined before treatment with clopidogrel. Results: CAT, TAC, Tp significantly decreased (P<0.0001) patients compared control levels these parameters returned increase However, TOC level was markedly increased decrease treating Receiver operating characteristic curve showed that CAT gave a higher sensitivity (68-73%) specificity (72%) as an indicator monitoring progression. Conclusion: activity TAC response which helpful reduce risk through scavenging oxidants formation. These results also present predictor variable action.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OXIDATIVE STRESS AND THE ONSET OF CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE
Oxidation of low density lipoprotein (LDL) particles plays a key role in the etiology of atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease (CAD). Oxidative stress enhances the likelihood of LDL oxidation and atherosclerotic plaque development. Paraoxonase (PONI) is an enzyme associated with HDL that metabolizes organophosphates and has antioxidant activity. In order to investigate the relationsh...
متن کاملCorrelations between Oxidative DNA Damage, Oxidative Stress and Coenzyme Q10 in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease
The correlation of coronary artery disease (CAD) with pro-oxidant/antioxidant balance and oxidative DNA damage was investigated. Seventy-seven patients with CAD and 44 healthy individuals as control were included in this study. The comparative ratios of ubiquinol-10/ubiquinone-10, 8-hydroxy-2(')-deoxyguanosine/deoxyguanosine and the level of MDA measured by HPLC and the activities of GPX and SO...
متن کاملEvaluation of correlation between oxidative stress and abnormal lipid profile in coronary artery disease
BACKGROUND Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the most common cause of sudden death, none and death of men and women over 20 years of age. The aim of the study was to know if there is any linear correlation between oxidants and abnormal lipid profile parameters in CAD. MATERIALS AND METHODS The present study includes 42 known CAD cases (age = 41-75 years) and 33 age- and sex-matched healthy con...
متن کاملAssociation Between Oxidative Stress and Peripheral Leukocyte Telomere Length in Patients with Premature Coronary Artery Disease
BACKGROUND Leukocyte telomere length (LTL) is regarded as a potential marker of biological aging. Oxidative stress plays a major role in the rate of telomeric DNA loss. The aim of this study was to explore whether the LTL was shorter in Chinese patients with premature coronary artery disease (PCAD) than in non-CAD controls and to determine the relationship between oxidative stress and LTL short...
متن کاملInteraction between dyslipidaemia, oxidative stress and inflammatory response in patients with angiographically proven coronary artery disease
INTRODUCTION Coronary artery disease (CAD) is emerging as the biggest killer of the 21st century. A number of theories have been postulated to explain the aetiology of atherosclerosis. The present study attempts to elucidate the interaction, if any, between inflammation, oxidative stress and dyslipidaemia in CAD. METHODS A total of 753 patients undergoing angiography were evaluated and 476 we...
